Usually na young girls dey suffer FGM – e dey usually before dem reach di age of puberty (dis na age wen girl bodi dey start to change to woman bodi) . Many times FGM dey happun between di time wey dem born girl pikin to di time wey she reach 15 years

FGM dey cause serious pain and e dey affect di health of di pikin up to wen she grow, become woman. She fit get problem when she wan get sex, when she wan born her own pikin, and e fit affect her mental health too.

If dem wan treat FGM, na some kain surgery dem go do Dis surgery no dey replace any skin wey dem don remove and e no dey undo any damage wey FGM fit don cause for the woman bodi.

But e dey help with some problems wey di woman dey face because of FGM.

Dem fit do di surgery if:

1. Woman no fit get sex or she dey get problem when she wan piss.

2. Woman don get belle wey be say to born di pikin go be big problem for am.

Normally, woman suppose do di surgery before she don get belle, but if she don already get belle, she still fit do am if e dey necessary but she go need to do am before di last 2 months of pregnancy.
